Every year, representatives of major digital companies as well as futurologists make predictions about the development of technology in the next decade. The year 2021 is not an exception, with conclusions about the changes that are expected in the near future.

By 2021 Adidas was supposed to begin mass production of fully recyclable trainers. But due to the pandemic, the manufacturer has pushed back the project start date by a year. An old pair of such shoes can be returned to a shop, from where they will not go to landfill, but will be recycled. A test batch of FUTURECRAFT.LOOP trainers was released in 2019.

2022

Instead of paper passports, Russia will issue digital documents which can be presented using a special smartphone app. The smartphone will replace not only credit cards, but also identity cards and even keys. And both door locks and digital vaults. Although, because of this, the number of cyber-attacks on smartphones may increase as well.

2023

Juniper Research estimates that by then about 5 million people will be using devices that will be monitored by medical organizations. Unlike today’s smartwatches and fitness bracelets that measure blood pressure and pulse, these devices will collect information from the skin and sweat. And the result will be the ability to detect many diseases at an early stage.

According to a report by telecoms company Ericsson, about 45% of the world’s population will be using 5G networks by 2024. The spread of the new communications standard and the development of microscopic autonomous sensors will accelerate developments in IoT. And that means users will be able to remotely detect whether doors are open or closed, and where individual items in a room are located. By the same time, electric cars could become cheaper than internal combustion engine vehicles.

By this time, cloud solutions are expected to be implemented in almost all areas. Up to 97% of companies will use artificial intelligence systems. About 90% of ordinary smartphone owners will actively use digital assistants. Augmented and virtual reality technologies will increase in popularity.

There will be more cars with fully autonomous driving, without real drivers. Because of this, the number of people who need a driving licence may decrease. But it will become mandatory to have autopilot on the list of safety systems in any car.

Microsoft experts suggest that by that time, tactile, visual and tactile immersion in VR will be at its maximum. And that means it will become increasingly difficult to distinguish between the virtual world and the real world.

Cryptocurrency experts suggest that by that time the value of 1 bitcoin will reach $10 million.

By that same year, a vast number of virtual commodities will appear, and game worlds will become the new social networks. Even groceries in a regular shop can be paid for with cryptocurrency, while orders will be delivered to the right address by drones.
